How TradEdge approaches personal information and responsible data handling.

This Privacy Policy explains the types of information that may be processed through TradEdge, why information may be used, how responsibilities can differ across institutional deployments and connected services, and the rights or choices that may be available to affected individuals.

Current website version: September 1, 2026 Privacy & Responsible Data Handling
Our Approach

Data is part of the infrastructure that makes digital services work.

TradEdge Africa Solutions Ltd provides digital infrastructure used across business, organisation, membership, enumeration, programme and operational workflows. Depending on the service, this can involve information about individuals, businesses, members, beneficiaries, merchants, field agents, programme participants or authorised organisation users.

We recognise that the usefulness of digital infrastructure depends on responsible information handling. Our approach is therefore to support purpose-based processing, appropriate access controls, traceable platform activity and safeguards proportionate to the service being delivered.

Because TradEdge can be deployed for different institutions and programmes, privacy responsibilities are not identical in every context. In some deployments, another organisation determines the purpose and essential parameters of the processing and may have its own privacy responsibilities and notices.

Purpose

Information should be connected to defined service, operational or lawful purposes.

Controlled Access

Access should reflect authorised roles, responsibilities and deployment context.

Transparency

Individuals should receive appropriate information about relevant processing.

Safeguards

Technical and organisational measures should be proportionate to the context.

Legal Information

TradEdge Privacy Policy

This policy provides a general overview of TradEdge's privacy approach. Particular programmes, institutional deployments, integrated services or regulated partner services may require additional notices, consents or terms.

Section 01

Scope and Who We Are

This Privacy Policy explains how TradEdge Africa Solutions Ltd ("TradEdge", "we", "us" or "our") may process personal information through the TradEdge website, applications, portals, enumeration tools, organisation and programme workflows, support channels and connected digital services.

TradEdge supports multiple operating contexts. A deployment may involve an institution, business, association, cooperative, programme owner, government entity, development organisation or authorised service provider. The respective privacy responsibilities depend on who determines the purpose and essential parameters of the relevant processing.

Where another organisation determines why information is collected and how it is used for a particular programme or deployment, that organisation's applicable privacy notice, programme terms or statutory responsibilities may also apply.
Section 02

Information We May Process

The information involved depends on the TradEdge product, service, deployment and purpose. Categories may include:

Category Examples Possible Context
Identity & Contact Name, phone, email, address and identification information where required. Accounts, membership, enumeration and beneficiary workflows.
Business & Organisation Business details, occupation, organisation role, membership or association records. MSME, merchant, membership and institutional services.
Programme Records Registration, eligibility, beneficiary, participation and field activity information. Government, development and institutional programmes.
Verification Information Identifiers or verification responses where required by an authorised workflow. Identity, eligibility, account or partner-connected processes.
Transaction References Payment, wallet, collection, settlement or operational references. Payment-related and financial-service-connected workflows.
Technical & Usage Device, browser, session, access, diagnostic and security information. Security, support, troubleshooting and service improvement.
Communications Support requests, enquiries and authorised service correspondence. Customer service, issue resolution and operational support.

Not every TradEdge service collects every category above. Data fields required for one programme may differ significantly from another.

Section 03

How Information May Be Obtained

Information may be obtained through channels including:

  • information submitted directly through a TradEdge interface;
  • information captured by an authorised enumerator, agent or institution user;
  • information generated through use of a TradEdge website, application or portal;
  • information supplied by the institution responsible for a deployment;
  • verification responses received from connected providers where permitted; and
  • support and operational records generated through authorised platform activity.
Section 04

Why Information May Be Processed

Depending on the service and relationship involved, information may be processed to:

  • provide, administer and support TradEdge services;
  • create and maintain authorised platform records;
  • support enumeration, membership, beneficiary, merchant and programme workflows;
  • perform authorised identity or eligibility verification processes;
  • support integrations with authorised service providers;
  • process service requests and provide customer support;
  • protect accounts, systems and users against misuse;
  • maintain auditability and operational records;
  • generate authorised operational reports and analytics;
  • communicate relevant service or programme information;
  • investigate complaints, errors, disputes or suspected misuse;
  • meet contractual responsibilities; and
  • comply with applicable legal or regulatory obligations.
Section 06

Institutional and Programme Deployments

TradEdge may provide infrastructure to institutions using the platform for programmes, membership structures, enumeration, operational administration or service delivery.

The responsible institution may determine which persons are registered, the information fields required, programme eligibility, operational rules, retention requirements or the authorised users permitted to access particular information.

TradEdge may provide the technology and operational environment while the institution retains responsibility for decisions it independently makes about the programme and relevant personal information.

Section 07

Identity, Financial and Other Connected Services

Some TradEdge workflows may connect users or institutions to specialist services supplied by third parties, including identity verification, banking, payment, credit, insurance or other integrated services where such functionality is available.

TradEdge provides technology and operational orchestration around these workflows. Where a service is regulated, the underlying regulated activity remains subject to the terms, eligibility requirements, responsibilities and authorisations of the relevant provider.

TradEdge should not be understood as independently providing a regulated banking, deposit-taking, lending or insurance service merely because the platform integrates or coordinates access to an authorised provider.
Section 08

When Information May Be Shared

Recipients may include, where appropriate:

  • the institution or programme owner responsible for a deployment;
  • authorised organisation administrators and operational personnel;
  • technology, hosting, communications or support providers;
  • identity or verification providers used in an authorised workflow;
  • appropriately authorised financial or specialist service providers;
  • professional advisers acting under appropriate obligations;
  • regulators, courts or public authorities where disclosure is required; and
  • other parties where authorised by the individual or another lawful basis.

Access and disclosure should be limited to the role, purpose and information reasonably required for the relevant activity.

Section 09

Security, Access Controls and Accountability

TradEdge uses technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the platform context. Depending on the system, these may include controlled user access, authentication, secure transmission, role-based administration, activity records and operational monitoring.

Platform users must also protect passwords, authentication credentials, devices and other access mechanisms against unauthorised use.

No internet-connected system can guarantee absolute security. Security therefore requires ongoing technical, organisational and user practices rather than a claim that risk can be completely eliminated.

Section 10

Data Retention

Personal information is retained according to the purpose for which it was collected, the service or programme involved, applicable agreements, operational requirements, dispute-resolution needs and legal or regulatory obligations.

Retention periods may differ between information categories and deployments. Information that is no longer required may be deleted, anonymised, securely archived or otherwise handled as appropriate.

Section 11

Your Privacy and Data Rights

Subject to applicable law and the circumstances of processing, an affected individual may be entitled to request:

  • confirmation of whether relevant personal information is being processed;
  • access to personal information and relevant processing information;
  • correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • deletion where a valid deletion right applies;
  • restriction of certain processing;
  • objection to processing in applicable circumstances;
  • data portability where applicable requirements are met; and
  • withdrawal of consent where consent is the applicable basis.

Reasonable identity verification may be required before information is disclosed or a record is changed. Rights may also be limited where continued processing or retention is required by law, contract, security, dispute resolution or another lawful basis.

Where TradEdge processes information primarily on behalf of another institution, a request may need to be handled together with or referred to that institution because it may be responsible for the underlying processing decision.
Section 12

Cookies and Website Technologies

The TradEdge website may use necessary cookies and similar technologies for sessions, security, preferences and website functionality. Analytics or optional technologies may also be used where actually configured and where appropriate requirements are met.

Section 13

Children and Protected Persons

TradEdge's general commercial services are primarily designed for adults, businesses and institutions. Some institutional or public programmes may, however, lawfully involve minors or other protected persons.

Where this occurs, the organisation responsible for the programme should ensure that appropriate authority, notices, consent arrangements and safeguards are in place.

Section 14

International Processing and Service Infrastructure

Digital services can involve infrastructure or providers operating in more than one jurisdiction. Where personal information is processed or transferred outside Nigeria, relevant safeguards should be applied in accordance with applicable data-protection requirements and the circumstances of the transfer.

Section 15

Third-Party Websites and Services

TradEdge services may contain links to or integrations with independent websites and services. Those services may operate under separate privacy notices and terms.

TradEdge is not responsible for independent third-party practices outside the services and processing it controls. Users should review the relevant provider's privacy information where appropriate.

Section 16

Keeping Information Accurate

Accurate information is important for identity, membership, programme, business and service records. Users and authorised institutions should provide information that is accurate to the best of their knowledge and use available correction processes when material information changes.

Historical or audit records may need to be preserved where changes must remain traceable for operational, contractual, security or legal reasons.

Section 17

Eligibility Rules, Analytics and Automated Processing

Some programmes may use defined rules, validation logic, analytics or automated system processes to organise records, identify workflow conditions or support operational decisions.

The nature of such processing depends on the specific deployment. Where automated processing creates additional legal or transparency obligations, the responsible parties should provide the information and safeguards required for that context.

Section 18

Changes to This Privacy Policy

TradEdge may update this Privacy Policy as products, technologies, institutional deployments, operating practices or applicable requirements evolve.

The current version will be published on this page. Where a material change requires additional notice or consent, an appropriate mechanism may be used for the relevant service or processing activity.

Section 19

Request a Correction

Where information is inaccurate or incomplete, an appropriate correction process may be available depending on the record and responsible institution.
